Facebook on Monday denied a news report accusing the company of reading text messages on Android devices, but said it is running a “limited” test of new features that may require the company to make use of permissions it already asks from users to access their texts. Facebook’s revamped mobile application platform enjoys 425 million users on a monthly basis, sends 60 million of them a month to applications and brought in a total of 320 million visits last month. Laptops Wi-Fi Might Cause Male Fertility Problems
A new study, published in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility by researchers from Argentina and the U.S., found that semen samples placed a little more than an inch under a Wi-Fi-connected laptop experienced more DNA damage and mobility issues than regular sperm. The samples were taken from 29 healthy men with an average age of 34. After just four hours sitting under a Wi-Fi-connected laptop, 25% of the sperm samples were no longer mobile and nine percent showed DNA damage. Court Orders Piracy Sites to Be De-Listed From Google, Facebook
Fashion house Chanel was handed a victory recently when a court found that the company can seize domains selling counterfeit Chanel goods. Part of the settlement, however, also requires search engines and social networks to de-list those sites from their results. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing, as well as social networks like Facebook, Google+, and Twitter must de-index or remove “from any search results pages” the Web sites in question, according to the ruling, which was handed down in Nevada district court.
